| As the founder of China’s Marxist historiography, Li Dazhao’s historiographical view not only reflects his scholarly nature, but also embodies his deep concern for the nation. His view is based on the Marxist historical materialism and influenced by traditional historiographical thoughts and the new historiographical trends. Its main content includes: Preserving the history and clarifying the facts as the primary foundation, seeking the laws of history as the core goal, saving the nation and enlightening the people as the practical concern, and guiding life as an important implication. Against the backdrop of various intertwined ideological theories, Li Dazhao’s historiographical view fully respects the historical facts and the objectivity of historical development, attaches great importance to the guiding significance of historiography for reality, which not only laid the foundation for the development of China’s Marxist historiography, guided the revolutionary movements of the time, but also promoted the formation of the CPC’s tradition of reading, valuing and learning history. |
