| In the report This Year's Election, Mao Zedong elaborated on his profound thinking on democratic election, including the significance of democratic election, the conditions for ensuring democratic election, and the important issues concerning democratic election. These aspects reflect the holistic, class-based, people-oriented, and procedural nature of Mao Zedong thought on democratic elections, which not only had significant guiding significance at that time but also provided deep insights for the development and improvement of democratic election in the new era, i.e. we must adhere to the leadership of the Party, uphold the principle of people being the master of the country, improve relevant laws and regulations, develop the whole-process people's democracy, and mobilize the masses to supervise the government. |
