| As a specific practice of Deleuze’s "becoming", "becoming-animal" is a key concept in his philosophical poetics and literary criticism, and also serves as a powerful tool to oppose the traditional western concept of identity and being. It produces a tendency of deterritorialization between human and animal through the perception of heterogeneous terms by the physical body, which challenges the mechanism of binary opposition. From this perspective, "becoming-animal" is endowed with distinct political color, implying the politics of becoming from strong majority to the weak Other, and it has become the way to lead the weak group to recognize and rebel against the power’s oppression. Therefore, it presents the value of differentiation and diversification in a postmodern context, and also provides the reference and inspiration for current political reality and cultural thinking. |
