On the basis of the variant versions of Journey to the West in the Great Tang Dynasty found in The Collation and Explanation of Journey to the West in the Great Tang Dynasty and the Buddhist scriptures, the author of this paper studies different versions of Journey to the West in the Great Tang Dynasty with the help of literature, exegesis, and lexicography.
