| 两汉经学的盛行、通经入仕制度的实施，激发了平民百姓努力求学的热情；私学教育的发展、书籍的丰富与书肆的兴盛，为平民百姓提供了更多的接受教育的机会；蒙学教材的平民化倾向在一定程度上满足了普通民众日常生活的用字需求。这些都促使了汉代平民受教育人数的日益增多，识文断字的人的比率增加，整个社会的文化水平得以提高。 |

| During Han Dynasty, the prevalence of Confucian classics and the implementation of being-an-official-through-Confucian-study system aroused people's learning enthusiasm. Development of private education, abundance of books and prosperity of bookstores provided the common people with more opportunities to receive education. And moreover, the popularization tendency of traditional elementary textbooks could meet the common people's needs for Chinese characters in their daily life to some degree. All these factors contributed to the increasing of education and literacy rate among the common people in Han Dynasty. As a result, the literate level of the whole society had been improved. |
