| In the context of early Western Marxism,there started a literary debate about accessing expressionism,which mainly involved the nature of expressionism and the definition of realism. As for expressionism,some insisted that it had a Fascist inclination, but the others thought that it could also lead to communism. As for realism, Lukacs asserted a "great realism" which characterized the description of the totality of capitalist production,but Brecht insisted that Lukacs'realism is formalist,and he believed that realism could be realized in many ways. |
