| 每所大学的校史都能够通过其校训加以透视，校训能够反映出大学的独特精神品格。唐山交通大学（现西南交通大学）作为我国近代著名工科大学，在其早期办学历史中凝练成“精勤求学，敦笃励志，果毅力行，忠恕任事”这一校训。文章通过历史的视角对该校校训进行解读，客观地揭示了这所学校的发展历程和办学理念，以期传承校史文化，弘扬大学精神。 |

| The history of every university can be penetrated through its motto, which can reflect its unique spirit. Tangshan Jiaotong University, called Southwest Jiaotong University now, is a famous engineering university in modern China. It developed its motto in its early history, that is "Diligence, Ambition, Decisiveness, Loyalty". This paper is aimed to interpret the motto from the historical perspective and demonstrate the development and philosophy of the university in an objective way, so as to carry on the culture and the spirit of the university. |
